Frequently Asked Questions
What do I/we wear?
My most asked question but most welcomed question!
Outfits should represent who you are! They should be comfortable, easy to move in, and flow together with your group.
However there are somethings that I do recommend that my clients avoid, they are:
-Try not to match everyone identical in the group.
We want uniqueness with each person in the photograph and variety between everyone. Outfits should flow together!
- Avoid using all patterns like plaid, polka dots, stripes, etc.
Break it up a little. For a family of 3 or more, no more than 1-2 people in patterned garments.
- Avoid bright reflective colors!
Bright colors such as reds, yellows, orange, pink, turquoise, neon, etc can be problematic when it comes time to edit. It tends to reflect onto skin causing an odd color cast! However, small accessories or pieces in these colors are fine to wear. It’s all about balance!
- For all sessions involving children, please have everyone camera ready at the start of your session!
It will save a lot of time and potential meltdowns if everyone is ready to go as soon as I arrive! Plus we can start asap which maximizes your time!
How do I book a session
All sessions are booked through my booking site! I send out a customized proposal containing your photography contract as well as an invoice.
-All sessions require a non-refundable deposit paid in order to book. That can be done via my booking website. Once the payment and contract is received, your session is officially booked!
-Payment plans are available for all sessions!
-I try to book 2-4 months in advance as I do fill up rather quickly! Weekday options are available as well.
Please let me know if you need further accommodations!
How soon do I book my newborn session?
Ideally I try to book my newborns within the first 12 days of life. However, this can be extended up to the first month! They are much sleepier and easier to move around around those early days and their skin is still as fresh as can be!
Sessions can be done in the hospital (Fresh 48) within the first 24-48 hours of life or done in the home.
I use all natural light so I recommend opening all the blinds and curtains in your home!
I schedule all newborns between 10am and 1pm as light is the best. Sessions are up to 2 hours long but can be broken up over the course of a couple of days.
If your baby isn’t happy and wont settle down despite all of our efforts (it happens all the time!) we can always try for another day to avoid stressing out your baby.
Babies like it WARM! So I encourage turning off the A/C in the summer months or turning up the heat in the winter months. Space heaters are a great options to keep the whole house from getting hot.
When is the best time to start a session?
Great question!
I like to keep the look of my sessions consistent so in order to do that, I start no earlier than 90 minutes before sunset or no later than 60 minutes after sunrise. This gives us those beautiful sun flares and golden-creamy tones.
If an earlier session is needed, I recommend an in-home session or to start later in the afternoon when there is shade available.
How do you choose which images to send?
Editing is a fun yet meticulous process. I am very picky with what images I want to send and use to represent my brand. I only pick the best out of the batch to edit and send to you. I carefully choose which images capture you or your family best. I focus more on moments that contain movement, genuine smiles, cuddles, authentic interaction, and beautiful light. If there are certain things that you want to have captured, please let me know prior to your session!
I try my best to edit out small blemishes, fly aways, stains, or other miscellaneous things that interfere with an image. However, further or deeper editing may be done at an additional price. Not all things can be edited out or fixed and if that is the case, we can always schedule a re-shoot.
Also, as a woman who encourages body positivity, I do not edit images to make people appear a different size than what they actually are. #LoveYourself!
Please review your package information regarding how many images to expect back.
Images are received between 2-8 weeks depending on your package! Please review your contract for an exact turn over date!
I always recommend that new clients review my portfolio before booking as I try to keep my style as consistent as possible!
What if i need to cancel or reschedule
Things happen! We can’t control what comes about each day. If for any reason you need to reschedule a session, please do so within in 24-48 hours! I will try and squeeze you in depending on availability.
I recommend rescheduling if you or your kids are sick. If I am sick, I will do my best to make a session unless its involving a newborn for safety reasons!
-All payments are non-refundable. So I really do try to recommend rescheduling your session if you need to cancel. If for some reason you can’t reschedule, please contact me as soon as possible!
